A few FAQ’s
Why career coaching?
You’re here because you want to make sure all your effort and energy is helping you build a successful, fulfilling career and not just leading to burnout, frustration, or being stuck in a dead-end job.
How can a coach help me?
Do you ever notice how you can give great advice to others, but it is so much harder to take your own advice? Working with a coach provides that outside guidance to help you see things you may not see for yourself. An experienced coach like me also will have many tools, techniques, and resources that you may not be familiar with to help accelerate your growth. Most importantly, a coach will hold you accountable and provide the feedback necessary for your development.
What if I don’t know what to work on?
That is exactly the point of having a coach. Often, the women I work with are so frustrated because they don’t know what to work on that will make the most impact in their career growth. By listening to your story and talking through your situation, I can help narrow down the areas to focus on as well as develop a plan of action.
How do I choose the right coach?
This is a great question. You want to make sure that you and your coach are on the same page with what works for your schedule and your communication style. Your coach should make you feel empowered and encouraged, but not be afraid to call you out when necessary. Always do an introductory call with any coaches you are considering to determine if it is a good fit for you both.
How much time is it going to take?
That depends on you. The amount of effort you put into your development is going to determine how quickly you will see change. The great thing about my program is that I focus on small incremental improvements and building lasting habits. This will keep you from feeling overwhelmed and start seeing progress right away.
I just started a new position, so should I wait until I want my next promotion?
No! Starting a new position is a great time to focus on your development because you want to establish your leadership perception right off the bat, rather than having to work on changing it later. Also, by preparing yourself now, you will be offered more opportunities than you may have otherwise.
Is it worth the money?
Absolutely! Improving your professional leadership skills is going to skyrocket your earning potential for your lifetime. Don’t only think of the monetary benefits though. Think about how much different your relationships and life will be when you feel fulfilled, valued, and happy at work. Also, the skills you will learn translate to your personal life to make you a better daughter, sister, mother, wife, friend, or mentor to others.
I am currently interviewing; can this help me land a better job?
Yes. If you are currently job searching, our focus will be narrower to help you prepare and advocate for yourself during your interviews. We will also discuss the dos and don’ts when starting a new job.
